Obituary

David “Dave” F. McCue, Sr., 76, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 with his wife and daughter by his side.

He was the beloved husband of Tracey A. (Lauck) McCue for 38 years. Born in Woburn, MA, he was a son of the late James P. McCue and Leah V. (Carter) McCue, and son-in-law of Eleanor A. (Idone) Lauck.

Dave was the baby of eight brothers and sisters. After losing both his parents at a young age he immediately started his own family. At just 18 he adopted his first son and soon was a father of five adopted children. He spent his time showering them with love and giving them a childhood that he felt they deserved.

He found the love of his life with Tracey. In 1981 Tracey was in her final year of college at Rhode Island College. She was working at McDonalds and Dave was building the drive through. Tracey immediately caught his eye and Dave told his friend on the job that he was going to ask her out. His friend bet him that she would say no. He was wrong. They married in 1982 and welcomed their daughter Nicole the following year. They spent many years traveling to the Caribbean. They enjoyed fishing and boating together. Dave enjoyed playing penny poker with his friends, playing pool and spending time at the casino (if he didn’t answer his phone you knew he was there). The last years of his life he lived for his grandchildren. He loved nothing more than watching them grow.

Dave worked as a cement finisher in the construction industry for many years. He and his wife, Tracey, owned and operated Concrete Designs in North Kingstown where Dave also served on the zoning board. He was a proud member of the Towanda Club in Woburn, MA where he shared many great times with family and friends. Dave was an avid Patriots fan and enjoyed fishing, and boating. He always lived his life to the fullest. He was always the guy with the jokes or the pranks. He always wanted to see people smile. If you were crying, chances were he was crying with you. He wore his emotions on his sleeve and he was proud of that. He was a simple man with a heart of gold and an infectious laugh. As he would say, “I’ll give you everything I have. As long as I have enough money in my pocket for gas and coffee, I’m good.”

Besides his wife, Tracey, Dave is survived by five loving children, David F. McCue, Jr., Dorothy McCue, Mary McCue, Casey McCue, and Nicole K. McCue (husband, Alex Young); three adoring grandchildren, Zoe Higgins, Bodhi Young, and Oliver Young; a brother, Robert McCue, and sister, Shirley Forrester. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Dave was predeceased by his daughter, Jennifer L. McCue and siblings, James P. McCue, Jr., Barbara McCall, Daniel McCue, Jannette Dalessio, and Marjorie McCue.
