Andrews, Robert R., 74, passed away Saturday, July, 9, 2016, after a long illness, with constant love and support from his beloved wife, Sondra E. (Keaney) Andrews, of 42 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Roy and Alice (Kerwin) Andrews. Robert also leaves behind a son, Dr. Roy Andrews, and his wife Julie, and a daughter Jean Attignol; he was the brother of Richard Andrews. Robert is also survived by seven grandchildren, and one great granddaughter.
Robert was an Army veteran and served as Sergeant in the 101st Airborne. He also served in Germany, and was an advisor during Vietnam. Robert worked for RIPTA as a bus driver for 35 years before retiring. He was a talented, self-taught bagpiper, and enjoyed gardening, reading, building, and daily walks with his wife. Robert loved his two beagles, Daisy and Molly.
His funeral will be Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 9 am from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick, with a Requiem Eucharist at 10 am in St. Mark Church, West Shore Rd. Burial in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Visitation Friday, 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care of RI, 1085 N. Main St., Providence, RI 02904, will be appreciated.
