Elena Torrisi Obituary

Elena Torrisi (Buccini), 88, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2019 after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Salvatore J. Torrisi, and a daughter of the late Amedeo and Marietta (Castelucci) Buccini. Born in Providence, Elena was the beloved mother of Vito Torrisi (Caprice) of Narragansett, and Tom Torrisi (Cathleen) of Southington, CT; devoted grandmother of Amanda, Stephen, and Matthew Torrisi. Elena was the sister of Dora D’Amario, Elvira Pazienza, and the late C. John Buccini. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Nothing made Elena happier than having family and friends seated around her dinner table, savoring another of her amazing meals. Good food was a mainstay of her life and she made sure everyone enjoyed eating as much as she did. She also loved to dance, bowl, play cards and sneak off for an occasional trip to the casino.
She was totally devoted to family. She made everyone feel special, treated her daughters-in-laws as daughters and spoke glowingly of her grandchildren to anyone who would listen. Elena was fiercely independent and could be stubborn to a fault, yet she also possessed the most kind, caring and gentle nature. Her door was never locked, to the point where visitors rarely even knocked, knowing they were always welcome in her home.

Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 11 AM in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick.
