Obituary

Edward George Avedisian, of Warwick, Rhode Island, died on the morning of May 5, 2020 at Miriam Hospital, Providence, Rhode Island at the age of 72. After being hospitalized for complications due to prior health conditions he passed away peacefully. Edward was the son of Edward and Susan (Kimatian) Avedisian. He was born on February 14, 1948 in the town of North Providence where he grew up with his three brothers, Michael, Howard and Paul Avedisian. They were a proud, hard working Armenian family that honored their culture and traditions with the Armenian community. It’s between these formal paragraphs that Eddy lived, and he would be the first to tell you a truly happy and fulfilled life without regret. Growing up, Eddy was a good student and loved to play sports. But like his father, Eddy’s passion was to create. He was, in every sense, a craftsman and an artist. After graduating from North Providence High School in 1966, Eddy attended the Art Institute of Boston. It’s here where Eddy met his wife Kim (Luke) Avedisian. Eddy was drafted during the Vietnam War in 1969. He served his tour in Okinawa, Japan. After returning home, Kim accepted his marriage proposal and they started a family in Cranston, RI where they lived in an apartment above his parent’s corner grocery store, Josephson’s Market. In 1972, Eddy started work at Shaw Packaging as a designer. But it wasn’t until Jewel Case where he dedicated himself to the craft and cemented what would be a lifelong career in design. He did his job with passion and pride. Eddy loved his job and the people he worked with. Everything Eddy did was brimming with passion and pride. Whether it was his yard, raising butterflies or building models at his basement workbench, he poured every part of himself into what he loved. Eddy was an eccentric man, often possessed by his passion. No one knows this better than his wife, my brother and myself. That said, I speak for all of us when I say, you’d be hard pressed to find a more authentic person, confident about who they are and their purpose on this planet. My father was empathetic, kind, trustworthy, loving and had a sense of humor second to none. Eddy is survived by his two siblings Michael and Paul Avedisian; his one true love, wife of 49 years, Kim (Luke) Avedisian; their sons, Nishan and Kris; daughters-in- law, Alexandra (Smith) and Melissa (Mosunic); grandchildren, Zoe (15), Alexander (13), Reed (10) and Senna (7), as well all so many close lifelong friends. Due to the current Covid 19 restrictions, his service, unfortunately will be delayed and announced at a future date.

“ Kim, if I died tomorrow, I’d be a happy man. I wouldn’t have done a single thing differently. I have no regrets. ” - Edward George Avedisian
