Anthony “Tony” J. Ricci, 88, a lifelong resident of Johnston, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday February 23, 2020 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, R.I. He was the beloved husband of the late Joyce A. (Kenney) Ricci for 45 years and son of the late Michael L. Ricci and Elsie (Greco) Ricci. He was also the younger brother of the late Domenico M. Ricci. Anthony is the father of the late Nadine M. (Ricci) Parrillo. He is survived by his daughter Melissa (Ricci) Ranucci and her husband Michael of Johnston, as well as his grandchildren Jennifer Makin, Brittany Feldman and her husband Alex, Eric Derr, and Megan Ranucci. He is also survived by his great grandchildren Kayleigh, Mackenzie and Josie, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Tony worked as a plant and production manager for many years in the jewelry manufacturing industry before retiring in 2004. He was also a volunteer firefighter for many years as well as working for the USPS for a brief time. He was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School.
Tony took great pride in his family and was a very dedicated husband, father and grandfather who loved his family unconditionally. He had many musical talents. Throughout the 60’s and 70’s he was a member of many bands and musical groups playing bass guitar and vocals. He was self-taught on many musical instruments. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Tony enjoyed gardening, writing and composing music, and loved to keep informed on political and current events. He enjoyed the companionship of his pets in his later years. A celebration of Anthony’s life will occur at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 551 Central Pike in Scituate on Friday, February 28th at 10:00 am followed by a burial at Highland Memorial Park Johnston. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 27th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tucker-Quinn Funeral Home, 643 Putnam Pike in Greenville. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101.
